EisnerAmper is one of the premier accounting and advisory firms, headquartered in New York City with locations around the world. Like many forward-thinking firms, as the New York office space lease was up for renewal, the firm took a deep dive into how to make the most effective use of physical space. Rather than simply updating their current space, EisnerAmper designed an entirely new space with a more open and inviting interior coupled with access to a spectacular exterior area they call “The Terrace.”
EisnerAmper faced rapid growth triggering them to rethink their space and workplace strategy. The then-current workplace structure consisted of traditional assigned seating arrangements that was both an operationally ineffective way to adapt to their growth and financially inefficient. EisnerAmper leadership realized it was time to fundamentally modernize and re-energize their stereotypical “accounting” workplace and provide employees flexibility and choice—ultimately offering their employees “a workplace for their day.” The new HQ needed to be fitted with a wide variety of unassigned individual and collaborative seating options using flex offices, booths, media connect rooms, and huddle rooms, with workplace operations and technology platforms structured to support employees working from anywhere.
The award-winning new amenities and freedom to choose from a wide variety of workspaces attracted employees back to the office even during the pandemic. With requirements for an easy way for employees to locate colleagues and quickly find and book workspaces that best meet their needs for their day, EisnerAmper selected Tango Reserve for their Workplace Management System. EisnerAmper found the ease of use and implementation to be critical in the early stages. With some unique requirements, the flexibility of the platform and the ability to work hand-in-hand with the Tango team allowed them to come up with solutions that created a seamless workplace experience for employees.
In the early planning stages of the new headquarters, EisnerAmper realized by taking advantage of worker mobility, they could leverage Tango Reserve to increase the worker-to-workspace ratio to greater than the 1:1 required by assigned seating strategies—using less overall space. When EisnerAmper signed their lease in 2019 for their new New York office, it was already for about 25% less space than their previous lease. By implementing a flexible workplace strategy coupled with reduced square footage, EisnerAmper was not only able to support rapid growth, they are also saving annually in rent costs.
In early 2020, just as they entered the final months of the build, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. But with their new workplace strategy, office space redesign, and supporting technology, the firm was more than ready to address this new challenge. EisnerAmper was able to offer their employees a safe way to return to the office and use the flexibility of Tango Reserve to address each state’s physical distance and capacity requirements. They also have access to contact tracing reports that show exactly who was in the office and with whom they may have been in close contact.
They now have access to Tango Reserve’s ability to measure presence and analyze utilization to optimize occupancy as they forecast and plan for future space needs in their new headquarters and five additional locations. The pandemic validated that EisnerAmper chose the right platform—one that was easy to install, deploy, and use while providing critical employee engagement through workplace choice and the decision support needed to address future change.
